New betta: swim bladder!

Okay so I saw a male betta at petsmart and occasionally he floated on his side, this is swim bladder correct? I couldn't leave him there to die, so he is sitting next to me in his cup. I have a few questions

Is there any way to treat swim bladder?

Is it contagious? I would like to divide my 10 gallon tank that already has one betta in it, but I don't want him to get sick.

Any other info?

Thanks

It is probably swim bladder, the best treatment is fasting followed up by feeding daphnia.

Swim bladder issues could be cause by another underlying issue though, bacterial or fungal infection, or a misshaped swim bladder. There is no cure for a misshaped bladder, it is a birth defect, like humans with a cleft lip.

Thanks, I had him in his own 1 gallon, all he did was kind of float at the top. He was fine this morning but was dead when I came home from school :(
