Strange Behavior

I bought my betta a week ago and at first he was in a small half gallon tank, but I researched that and decided to get him a full gallon tank with a filter and he seems much happier. However he wasn't eating for awhile until I put a towel over his tank at night and now (thank god) he started to eat.

I guess the weird behavior happens when I walk in and look at his tank. He'll put his face against the glass and open and close his mouth and wiggle his body really fast. I kind of get the feeling he's trying to push against the glass. Is he begging or saying hey? Because I am taking him to college in a couple days I want to make sure he's alright. Is his behavior normal? How do I know he's happy or content?

All my bettas do that....they want attention/food. Whenever I talk to mine they do that....I call it the wiggle dance!

Awww it's normal. He's just saying "Hey! I'm here!" :)

Haha mine does that too. I think he doesn't understand that he's in a tank and cant get to me. :)

Mine does that too :) He's always trying to break out of he tank when he wants attenchion

mine doesnt push against the glass he just stairs at me and flutters his fins like crazy. I started putting my finger tip in and slowly he gets closer to it at times and either nips at it or rubs up against it, i want to try to train him to be comfortable enough so i can pet him a bit :)
