Of course I am thinking about another. Boba was my first fish. Do I need to throw away his tank and start fresh or can I just clean it really well, replace the plants etc and find another Betta?

You can pour some vinegar and water in and rinse ALOT. Then sit it in the sun for a couple days, rinse some more. Then all should be safe. Boil gravel/marbles and rinse everything else in really hot water. You could also choose to use bleach instead of vinegar. but you have to rinse ALOT ALOT with hot water. I can't stress the rinsing enough.

Sorry to hear Boba passed.
If you use vinegar and water it won't have to sit in the sun after you rinse it well.
Soak it in water and vinegar while you run to get a new fish and then rinse rinse rinse
Then you can get it up and running again and start acclimating the new fish. I have successfully pulled this one off in Rusty's old tank. Of course it depends on what he died from.

It's just too bad because he almost made it to a year old. I swear my other betta, ABBA, is just swimming next to the side of the tank where Boba's tank was. My husband says I am crazy, but ABBA knows the other one is gone.
