Tons of Mystery Snail Babies!

Hi guys,

We recieved a pair of snails a while back from Peachii. Since then, they have just been breeding and breeding and breeding, and before we knew it, there were a dozen clutches. A few clutches have hatched, so we have quite a few babies, and there are many more on the way. We are kind of at a lost as to what to do with them, so we are wondering if anyone would be interested in, say, $1 for five snails plus the cost of shipping? We would have to grow them out some more because they are tiny right now, but we just thought we would put out a feeler.

A picture of the parents are down below. One is a reddish purple and the other is an ivory.

*We could also throw in some java moss and other assorted baby plant stems (as long as supplies last) if it would help get them homes.

Thanks for looking!

Also, I'm a little iffy about selling my art (because I honestly don't know who would want to pay for my art...), but I would also be willing to do art commissions with purchases of baby snails (one per sale).

My gf is really attached to these snails, so I really don't want to cull them just because we have way too many.

Some samples are below. I do colour, black and white, and digital too (I am much better at traditional mediums though). Traditional drawings will be done in colour pencil and pen and mailed out with the baby snails.

Thank you very much.

Will do. :)

I'll ask Pandoras for pictures of the babies tonight.

Alright! :) I am hoping to get a variety of snails for my future stock and those are perfect. Love the coloring. Too bad you can't really tell the sex.

Mystery snails do come in many cool colours. I think the red parent is really supposed to be a light striped purple with an ivory body.

Here's a list of some of the colours with in-depth descriptions: http://www.angelfire.com/va/myevolut.../bridgesii.htm

I think once they get big enough, identifying gender isn't too difficult.

Thanks. I'll need ramshorns, mystery, and trumpet snails to start my snail shop. I would rather buy from people on this forum than pet stores.

I agree! The parents came from a very nice member of this forum too.

Plus, I had a bad experience with golden mystery snails from Petland suddenly falling sick and dying out of blue when I thought I was doing everything right.

This is exactly what happened to my golden mystery snail. S/he died after a week. I didn't bother taking it back to PetSmart.

Hmm. I got a golden mystery snail recently from a reputable source online and it died while in QT. maybe it's something about the colour lol. I was sad, he was lovely. Feng I wish you lived in Canada so I could get snails from you! I have two nerites and they are way more fun than I thought a snail could be, plus they keep their aquariums sparking!

Feng, your snails are rare. You usually don't see them at PetCo or PetSmart.
