Marvelous Marbles

Feeding my bettas tonight I noticed already that my new boy whom I have owned for approximately 1 month has already changed dramatically. I was hoping he would stay as he was but that is marbles for you!!

Marbles are pretty amazing when you think about it...... I know there is generally a love/hate relationship when it comes to marbles. Me........it's a combination of the two. I adore marbles because they are quite amazing forever changing they are a lucky dip as you never quite know what you will get. Hate because when you find the fish with the "PERFECT" markings it is hard to accept when it arrives to you an ordinary solid blue for example when it looked like a painted masterpiece when you ordered him.

Sometimes you buy a marble and you don't even know it! 6 months ago I bought a rosetail with a solid true green metallic body with solid red fins, I named him Christmas for obvious reasons. Anyway 8 months and no change and then all of a sudden BAM!! over 2 weeks his body began to lose it's green and went black so he became a black betta with red fins and a green head. Now he is a red betta with red fins and a green head. I never would have guessed he would marble! Christmas is just one of many amazing marbles which I have owned. I even has one which was very marbled when I bought him and his pattern NEVER changed. You NEVER know what you are going to get................ Just thought I would share these thoughts with you all. I should try post some photos when I find some good ones, I know I took a lot over the different marbling stages of some of my bettas......

Holy crap! That's the same fish? Wow. Just wow.
Seeing how I'm still kinda new to the betta scene, I have not come across any marbles yet. Maybe I'll get lucky this weekend on my trip to Petsmart.
It would be interesting to see how one changes over time.

I know what you mean. I have a crowntail which was pure white with orange tips when I bought him. He went copper and purple (solid coloured) and now he has gone white again! I think marbles are great and I love your fishes' name! What a perfect Halloween betta!
