Exclamation I'm Betta-less!

Thanks everyone with your support of my losing of Tian-Tian and Taco over the past two weeks. Your concern and compassion mean so much to me. Thank you.

With the loss of my boys comes a grave reality: I don't have any more Bettas!!

Though this may seem something silly to be worried about, I am feeling a need to have another Betta. My desk by the window looks sad and empty without a Betta there.

I'm out of water conditioner (my last of it went to Tian-Tian) so I know if I get a Betta, I'll need to find a way to disinfect Tian-Tian's old tank (living in a dorm makes that a little tricky) and buy conditioner.
And a Betta, of course.

Or maybe I could get another tank. Maybe.

Thoughts?

If you can get a bottle of vinegar and rinse rinse rinse that will work.
I hope you do find another betta who captures your heart!

I know how you feel, my tank looked sad, and it felt weird not having anything to feed. So I got too more. I just put my tank into the dishwasher with no soap, the hot water disinfected the tanks, and I boild the rocks over the stove. you could do that

Yeah I would do the half vinegar half water or just use boiling hot water for the tank. Or if you want to spend the money, you could get a new tank. I hope you decide to get another betta. I know the loss is horrible, but a new little guy or girl will light up your life again.

I would use vinegar and water and clean everything with boiling hot water, like Vikki said.I would definitely get another one.

I literally Laughed Out Loud.

So a few things to clarify what "living in the dorm" means:

1. Limited access to a stove, or anything that can successfully boil water (also, I don't have a pot to boil water with... or any bowls to make ramen, either. Yes, I'm aware that I fail in the dishes department this semester.)
2. Getting to the grocery store, with no car, is a full hour trip and back by bus... just for vinegar (though I do need groceries, but that's not gonna happen this week, unfortunately. More PB&J sandwiches!! It's good to be a poor college student, haha )
3. I believe I could use the laundry room washtub to clean out the tank. I'll have to double-check to see if it actually works.

... I COULD get another tank, but that'd be a waste of a perfectly good tank that I already have (though a very large bowl is a very tempting idea.. I've seen some that hold 2.5 gallons). Given my limited budget and lack of space and resources, I'm totally down for using Tian-Tian's old tank.

If I find a break, either tonight or tomorrow after homework/studying is done, I'll get to cleaning the tank.

AAAAaaaaannnnndddd..... I don't know what kind of Betta I should get. I've never had a crowntail, halfmoon or plakat. Or I could stick with the familiar and get another veil-tail.

.... I guess I'll have to see which one steals my heart first at my LFS (aka, Petco). 8)

one thing you could do, get vinegar next time you go to the grocery store, also get a large container, fill it will water, put it in the microwave and heat it up....... a shower always works for rinsing too
