You should treat the rest of the tank. fish can carry the parasite without showing spots. It's when they are stressed that the parasite gets the upper hand and spreads all over the fish.

Treatment should not be a last resort. That's how fish die - people wait till it's too late. Certain diseases must be treated a soon as they can be identified, and columnaris is definitely one of them. Ich is another.
