Decorating idea for 5 gal.

Soooo....today I got a great idea (I think) for my new 5 gal. An underwater crystal garden theme . Unfortunately the only thing that might be safe is crystalline quartz- I posted a thread in the freshwater aquarium section after researching myself for a while. I was also thinking maybe fake bamboo for plants.

Anyway, and suggestions/thoughts are welcome. I could go with some crystal gravel but I'm thinking that may be too artificial looking so maybe just a dark natural *shrugs*

That sounds good! I think that dark looking gravel would look better.

Ok, I'm thinking I'll go with the dark gravel. I'd love to be able to use other colors of crystalline quartz such as rose quartz and smokey quartz, but I don't know if the impurities that make them these colors are bad for aquariums. I already know that amythest is out because it has calcium and magnesium (at least I think that was what it was?? I know it was something bad) but nothing I read says anything against it. Does anyone on here know much about crystals?

Otherwise I'll just use regular crystalline quartz and I think it'll still look very good.
