Tian-Tian, "the puppy-fish" passed away at 4:55pm yesterday afternoon. He was about two or three years old.
At his peak, Tian-Tian was known for his lovable attitude. He was first brought into Eva's life as a replacement for a roommate in college. Later, Eva realized that this fish was not just a fish or an ordinary pet, but a friend and great company. He was someone who could sit patiently and listen to Eva day after day.
There were many times that Tian-Tian gave his owner a scare with his health, but he always bounced right back, ready to greet another day with a flare.
Tian-Tian hated blue M&Ms, but loved to chase his owner's fingers across the front of his tank. He loved greeting his owner as she'd come home to her dorm from classes, wiggling his tail like a puppy. Hence the nickname, "puppy-fish".
Tian-Tian's name means "everyday" in Mandarin Chinese. Though the name was initially a mistake, in the end it was very appropriate. Tian-Tian was a joy to have around everyday.
Tian-Tian, "youuuu fish", you will always be known as my first Betta, but also known as a close friend. I am heartbroken to see you go, but I hope that I have done my best for you. Ride the highest waves, swim the deepest ocean and race Taco to the open sky until I meet you again.
Farewell for now, puppy-fish. I love you.
