I'm really tempted to buy and try the Hydor Theo too, but my fish guy keeps telling me that he's had a lot of customers return or exchange them due to them being faulty. (My fish guy has tried using them in many aquariums as well.) I might just throw what he said out the door and try it out in an aquarium I'm thinking about setting up in the living room, since a lot of people here find them to be excellent heaters.

They aren't always accurate, but they work pretty well - I have 3 in use currently, and they're all just a bit off, but they hold the temperature well.

I have 3 in use now. Two have been in use for about six months, the third just went into service. The only problem I have had is on the two older ones have become hard to turn the adjustment knob while in place so I do it when I do a WC.

Yeah, I don't think they make heaters last as long as they used too. I had to get a new Aqueon heater once cause it stopped working all of a sudden. and I heard some bad things on the heaters I have. for now I works to keep my fish warm but I will be upgrading. =)

I have the tetra heater and it keeps the water at a solid 80 degrees farenheit.

I would have gotten an adjustable one looking back, but the tetra one is just fine and has a warranty if it boils your fish and such..
