Hi everyone!

Hi all! I just bought a Betta two weeks ago. Like most, I thought they lived in tiny spaces but soon learned after research that they do much better in larger habitats! Luckily I had already purchased a 1 gal tank for him! The pet store I bought him from had him in water (in a cup) so dirty I could hardly see him! But after intense inspection of many Bettas I think I chose the right one for me. The lady at the store also said he would require a water change once every two weeks and after having him I now see that he needs at least a partial water change every other day for a 1 gal! I just did a complete change today. My Betta "Capt. Fred", is thriving and has so much personality! I just love him so much!
Finding this forum was such a treasure! The info on here is very informative and helpful. I can Betta care a new hobby for me! I live in the Florida keys with my husband, yorkie, two cats, and a horse (I board him North of here). I have a degree in biology and work at a veterinarian Hospital. My husband and I both have aquarium keeping experience and experience keeping birds and reptiles as well.
It's so great to meet everyone!!

Hii! I just found this forum tonight too! I have 9 bettas and I love them all to death. I just bought my 9th one today at Walmart and the water he was in was so disgusting. The water was like an inch and a half so he didn't have much room to swim, but now he's happy! I'm sure you'll see another betta and you're collection will get a little bigger...they're so easy to fall in love with!
