Feeding a blind fish

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had experiences with blind fish? I'm having a HORRIBLE time with my new white male VT. I cannot get him to find his food. I can't even get him to come to the top to put it in front of his nose. Any suggestions?

You could try tapping your finger on the water to get his attention and the drop the food in right infront of him.

I tried tapping the water.... I'm wondering now if he might be sick in another way too. Because I got him to eat when I first brought him home by dropping it right in front of his nose, but now i can't get him to leave the safety of his plant. He just sits in there.

You might want to post this question in the freshwater and tropical fish section of the forum. Someone over there might be able to help.

I was going to suggest holding the hood in front of him with a pair of tongs or tweezers, but it seems you've already tried a similar method.
Good luck!

This may sound mean but maybe putting him in a small container to eat... so he doesnt need to swim far.

Maybe when he gets more used to his surroundings he will feel safe enough to come to the top. Then you can train him to come up when you tap the glass. Poor little thing! At least he went to a good home though.

Yeah, I could try this. It really seems to stress him out to change his tank though, he freaks when the net touches him.
