Can fish tell if the weather changes?

Well its not on alll the time. I turn if off at night... I can't sleep with lights. And I think I read somewhere that you're suppose to leave it on at night, but like I said, I can't sleep with lights and my parents won't let me leave the fish anywhere else but my room.

I'm going to petsmart today so i'll look into the thermometers and heaters :]
