females and bubble nests??

Hi all!

I recently bought 2 female betta's in a tank that is around about 6 gallons about a week ago.

I woke up today to what seem to be a bubble nest just like a male would make......

I have check just to be sure that both are females and from what i can see they are.

Does this happen at all or is it something i should be concerned with as one may just be a juvenile male?

I don't think females make nests. If you have another little 2 or 3 gallon tank you could put one in it and see who the bubbles are coming from. Is the nest big?

It could even be that one is a male and one is a female and they spawned. I'll ask Mr. Vampire or someone what the nest would look like after spawning.

the nest is just white at the moment.... very very small though....

i have read that it could just be air escaping from the bettas and not releasing.

i will try get pics up soon of both fish so maybe someone can help me identify that they are both females

Here's what MrVampire said

Females will build nests when they want to breed but you won't let them. They'll just drop their eggs and put them in their nest and papmper and then eat them. But femlaes generally don't build nests.
