Hydor Mini in a Bowl?

I ordered a Hydor Mini which should be coming in tomorrow and was wondering if anyone knew whether it would be better if I buried it in the gravel or if I let it dangle. The bowl that I have is a 2gal and it's plastic/acryllic (not entirely sure which). I'm just kinda worried that the heater might somehow warp the plastic if I bury it in the gravel and it ends up touching the bowl itself.

Also, if it won't damage the bowl, could I forgo the gravel and just put the heater on the bottom? The bowl that I have is a major pain to clean when there's gravel in the bottom...

I use that same heater in my 2 gallon critter keeper (hospital tank) and it has worked fine. I've stuck it to the side of the tank though. I plan to get another for my 2 gallon bowl, when I stock it that is. :P
