Is there a way to divide pond lilies?

There are quite successful in my tank and I want to start another tank and add them. Can you divide them?

most of them put off plantlets that can be detatched and planted elsewhere.there is a google search about forcing them to produce bulbs.

I have had luck splitting mine at the roots. As long as yours have a good root system you should be able to split into thirds.
