Is this Rot?

Doing my first water change on a new tank. Pulled out the plant, as recommended, and checked the roots. Does this look like rot to you?

looks like it is starting to rot.could be it is having trouble acclimating from the tube it came from. the tube plants are initally grown emersed and once they are put in a submerged state sometimes have a hard time.i would trim any roots or leaves that look rotten.then try rubbing any gunk off of the rhizome off with your fingers.this time you may want to either leave the plant free floating for a while or try tying the plant to a rock or wood using cotton string or fishing line.the rhizome needs better circulation.
