Good luck with round two! Our first fish didn't work out either (2 fancy goldfish in a 5 gallon---YIKES!). Just help your kids research carefully before attempting again. I actually learned a lot about science when my parents helped my with my first fish tank. Here is a good thread on setting up your child's first tank: Child's First Aquarium - UltimateBettas. The caresheet in the betta care section of this forum is also some really solid information.
