Hi everyone my name is Jenn and I just got my betta 2 weeks ago. Ive had bettas when i was younger but they never lived to long :( so im hopeing to learn alot and keep my betta happy and healthy for a long time. Right now i have a 1 gallon tank with an under gravel filter, i got the tank today i know it is still small but i figured its better than the lil betta bowl he was living in. so far he seems to like it and is enjoying swimming around. here is a pic of him i believe he is a crowntail its not the best pics hopefully he will be more photogenic later :)


any advice would be great thanks guys :)

I recommend a 2 gallon tank Minimum. Welcome to the forum, please don't hesitate to ask questions! Everyone is very helpful here. :)

Welcome! He looks really roly-poly and cute. From what I can see of his fins, he does seem to be a crowntail.

Just make sure that you keep your water warm (about 76-80 degrees) and that none of his decorations are sharp to tear his fins.

thanks everyone, i would have loved to get him the 5 gallon tank they had but i didnt have the money for it im glad i was able to get him out of that tiny bowl for now. hopefully within a month or two i can get him the bigger tank. ive been watching him for a while now silly guy keeps flaring at the bubbles in the filter tube. i have to get some better pics with my camera later, cell phone pics make his body look green when he is really a pinkish purple

wow hes so pretty, and even though i do reccomend a 2 gallon minimum, im pretty sure hes pretty happy right now being out of that tiny cup!

Welcome to the forum! Pretty boy you have (: And while a 2 gallon is the suggested minimum, it's better to have a one gallon than a tiny bowl. Two of mine are actually currently living in one gallons, and they love it (: Good luck with the boy!

he doesnt have a name yet, although my friend wants to call him bob lol long story short she had a huge praying mantis on her car that i named prometheus the praying mantis so now she wants to name my betta bob the betta and i refuse lol i kindda want to name his skittles :)
