crazy freckles...

So, Freckles, my vt female, has been known to put her self in very tight situations... But tonight, i got home, ( i have large stones in my vases, like the ones from outside kinda in gardens ) any way, i got home and i found her WEDGED completly under a stack of them like it looked like some1 picked up rocks and put them on top of her, she was wiggling like crazy, i freaked out! Got my arm in there and moved the stones for her.... Shes insane. She always trys to do this... shes scouting a spot to wedge herself in right now.... would it be wise to just have a bare bottom for her maybe? Shes so spastic! she wants to be under the rocks so bad.

It probably would be a good idea to remove the stones so she doesn't do it again. That IS pretty scary to find your fish under rocks like that!

You're lucky you found her before anything happened! And yeah, getting rid of the rocks would probably be best.

My little Lily is the same way, I use very fine gravel in the tank she's in so that she can't wedge underneath it, and have made sure all the decorations in the tank leave no tiny crevices she can get stuck in.

The same thing happened to me today!!! It was so scary!!!! I went and looked for Ivy, she was at the bottom of her tank STUCK in the base of the plant. The base of the plant has a little hole in it, just the right size for a small betta to squeeze through. I lifted the plant to the surface so she could at least breath, and I managed to get her to wriggle out. I'm giving that plant to a friend who has goldfish, because it also tore her fins.

I would get some aquarium gravel and put some of that in for her. ALOT safer.

im just gunna leave the rocks for now i took a bunch out so she doenst much many places to wedge herself into... and i check on her often. she seems more stable. she got so scared when it all happened, she turned almost completly tan instead of vibrant blue. i still see her staring at the bottom of the rocks like contemplating how she can wiggle in... shes insane. I might try to get her a diff vase later something with a flat bottom cuz this one is like strange and creates crevasse to get into cuz its got kind a pedistal at the bottom and the glass bows out... then maybe i can get a new fish for it :)

If your betta is small, and can get into rocks, you should get sand at the bottom. Sand looks really nice too :)
