Unhappy Betta with Swollen Stomach PLEASE HELP

PLEASE HELP
I am very concerned about my betta, keif. His stomach is terrifyingly swollen, im almost worried he might burst, he is swimming normally, although he sits on the bottom a little longer than usually and is having little erratic outbursts, I read something about salts elsewhere but he instructions weren’t very clear, my Keif means so much to me, please help L

You should be changing that water much more often... probablycloser to once a week, especially with that many fish. What brand of food do you feed him? How many pellets each feeding? How many feedings per day?

ah my pet shop recommended once a month :\ in all fairness the water LOOKS very clean, but I will do a change again this week. I wish I hadn't but I threw the packet in the bin and put the pellets in a little box :\ I think they may have been 'tetrabeta'? I only feed him once, and I just give him a pinch... probably around 3-5 pellets?

You should probably regulate the number of pellets per feeding. A betta's stomach is about the size of its eye, so don't feed more than that. Part of the problem may be a lot of fillers in the food. You might want to switch to something that's more protein-heavy, like Omega One Betta Buffet pellets or New Life Spectrum pellets. But for now, you should maybe fast him for a few days (2 or 3) to see if he poops and the bloating goes down.
