Away for 2 weeks

Hey all. I know this is still pretty far away, but I'm going to be going away for 2 weeks in december and I don't know what to do with my betta fish while I'm gone. The pet shop I got him from does offer boarding but the move was so stressful for him and I don't really want to put him through that another 2 times. I don't have a filter either (I change his water myself), so I don't want to leave him alone for 2 weeks with some food. anyone got any ideas of what I could do?

I was in the same situation myself a couple months ago. I had someone come in to feed my fish (I had 6 at the time) but she came every other day and not on weekends.. She didn't do water changes. I couldn't ask her to change 6 containers. I had her to feed my fish 2 pellets each time she came over. They did just fine on this small amount of food. Less food means less waste building up in the tank and, therefore, less ammonia buildup. Most people don't trust those feeding blocks as they mess up your water. I hope this helps.

that does help, although if I do leave Galileo here over the break, I can't get someone to come feed him because the residences are closed. Has anything been made yet that "dispenses" betta food at certain intervals then other than the food block?

There are automatic food dispensers but I don't know anything about them.

I don't think it can dispense betta food. Its too small :(
Um, yeah those feeding blocks are crap. I used one and it wasn't even touched. My fish starved themselves.
When you are going away, are you driving? You could take him with you?

i cant. My dorm is in BC and I'm going to Tokyo with my family. If I have to resort to driving him somewhere then I'm going to have to take him on the bus back to the store I bought him at and pay them $2 a day to take care of him. How long were you away for when you (attempted to) resort to using food blocks?

no, that will definitely not work.
It will rot and go bad in a few hours.

They CAN go for 2 weeks without food and survive but you'd only want to do that as a last resort. I've been to Tokyo before and loved it!
