Help with plants?

I'm interested in getting plants but I was wondering it there are any plants that don't have to be put in soil? Like, maybe just floating ones, or even ones that can just be tied down to a rock. Would I need to add something to the water to help the plants thrive? If there are such plants, can I keep on adding salt and bettafix to my tank?

I just have gravel....
Also, if this helps, I don't have a filter.
I do regular WC's instead.

I've read other threads and such on plants, but I got confused....so I made me a thread just to clear this up for me.

Java fern you tie on rocks or drift wood...and for floating plants I know of duckweed and water spirte.

i would reccomen slik plants much easier to maintain

I don't have soil in my tank and my live plants are doing well. I have to add liquid fertilizer. I also have to add Flourish Root tabs like every 3 months. Do make sure you have a daylight spectrum light on the tank before you buy them though. I use a 10 watt CFL daylight spectrum.
