Temporary home... hope this doesn't sound too crude

Hi! I recently bought four males, and three of the four are currently in maybe a half-gallon each. They also each have a plant and a weekly water change. This is just temporary housing for them, I'm going to go home and get my 10gal to split soon :).

But here's the issue! I have a little baby mustard gas male in the only tank I had available.. it's about the size of a pop can. However, I have a 1.14 litre empty bottle of vodka. Is it possible that I can peel of the stickers, clean it thoroughly, and put the fish in there, keeping the lid off? (Temporary only!) Or would this be dangerous? I just feel bad that he's so confined currently

Better off with a medium/large rubbermaid container than risk traces of alcohol in the bottle.

I agree. Better to be safe than sorry.

i had a female in a large grey goose bottle for a week just as quarantine she is tiny though. Same with my first male,he was in a gin bottle, and he blew a nice bubble nest :)

I think for a short time its ok. The "pop can" i think would be a bit cramped.

ohhh grey goose bottles are soo pretty. but i think it would be okay if you reallly cleaned it good. ive temporaly housed some of my betas in strange things too. wouldnt suggest using soap. just really rinse it like 30 times. swish it around and let it dry(upside down) and do it again...okay maybe not 30.

I'd be worried, mainly because vodka is used to euthanize fish. Make sure you clean it REALLY well if you want to use it

I would do more frequent water changes since they are in such small tanks. Maybe ever other day.

The water in my bathroom was honestly SCALDING, I rinsed it out a bunch of times.

Also, I do water changes when the water looks cloudy, I have live plants in each, so they keep it fresher looking longer

He looks super cute in it, lol! He's been there for a few hours now and loving it
