I bought a Princess today...

I went to petsmart today and fell in love with her. I will post pictures tomorrow so you guys can see her. She is a beautiful white color with a few small dark blue spots, her upper and lower fins are a real light blue with a little dark blue and reddish purple, and her tail starts of light blue then changes to the reddish purple color. I bought her a 5 gallon tank and set it up on my desk at work. I used dark blue and black gravel because I thought it would really bring out her color. Tomorrow I am going to get her a back ground for her tank do you guys think I should go with a dark back ground? What do you guys think I caould put in there with her? I was thinking maybe a Ivory Mystery Snail and an African Dwarf Frog do you think that would be ok? Oh and does anyone have any name suggestions? Sorry this is kind of long but I am excited she is my first female Betta.

Snails need high levels of calcium, ph and kh, which makebettas prone to finrot and bacterial infections, so I wouldn't recommend one.

Females are great, they have so much personality! I wouldn't go with the snail, as DQ said, fin rot = no fun.. but an ADF would be nice, just make sure you have long tweezers or a turkey baster to feed him with.

Thanks everyone. I have a Blue Mystery Snail (Hes my avitar) but he is in a tank with 3 playts, a swordtail, and 3 corys I did not know that Calcium could cause fin rot so I will not get one. Why would I need tweezers or a turkey baster for a ADF?

You need to feed them seperately...I'm just not sure what they eat.

No the snail and the others are in a 10 gallon tank I have. I have several tanks. A 5 gallon, 2 10 gallons, a 44 gallon, and 2 20 gallons. LOL In the 5 gallon there is only the female Betta.
