Tank problems

So I just noticed the hood on my 2.5 is getting rusty...the wires for the lights are screwed in and I guess the moisture is making them rust..I don't want to put the hood back on because I think the rust might get in the water. Now I don't know what to use to cover the tank and should I email the manufacturer about this or let it go?

Cover them with aquarium sealant. Until you get ahold of them you can cover the tank with pertty much anything... even a towel would do in a pinch.

I can't tell in the picture, but is it the screws that are rusting or the whole thing? If it's just the screws, you can replace them.
