Talking Ghost shrimp with betta in a 4 gallon?

How many do you think would be the max to keep in the tank? I've got 3 of them right now, but I'm falling in love with their cleaning skills and how social they are and want more.

Maybe one more. Having an understocked tank is generally better than an overstocked one. You don't want it to look like a Petco tank with 100 fish in a 20 gallon.

I have to agree, it's a pretty small tank to have much more than you already do, of course I'll take any reason to get a bigger tank!

Actually there's another thread where someone was asking a similar question, and the member with the ****zu pic (can't remember name) seems to know what he/she is talkin about. I think they said 15 cherry shrimp or 5 ghost shrimp max...I don't really remember though, maybe you can find the thread.

1 per gallon is a good starting point for ghost shrimp. You could certainly keep more - I think 5 is a good number. There is a certain number of shrimp that your tank can sustain without changing a thing (primarily how much you feed). For example, if you got say 10 shrimp, you might find that after a couple months you only have 5 because there's not enough food available to sustain more than that. If you were to feed the shrimp (over feed a little), then more will survive. Same principle as with the pest snails.
