He's a VT. (Veiltail) Somehow, there is some Orange Dalmation in him. See his anal fin? It's a bit orange and there are red dots.

Thank you that tells me more than I knew before. Any chance you might be able to tell his dominant type? Is he a hybrid?

I'm afraid his genes are a bit mixed up. The pet store Bettas are assumed to have mixed genes since you don't know who the parents were and the backround gene. Orange Dalmation was introduced in his line in the past. There isn't really hybrids. Just mixed genes, types, and colors. :/

Yes, he is. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with him. Just those unresponsible breeders out there. :/ He's a good find. ^^

When I gotta my Betta earlier in the year, the label on his 'plastic bowl' was gone so I never investigated what he was. I'm glad this was here cause it didn't take long to discover my boy is a HM - very pretty. Although I think he's 3 colors (hard to tell sometimes) Light Blue/Dark Blue and Red along his fins/tail. Lately though he doesn't flare much so its hard to say. He does fascinate me when he swims around though. He's gorgeous

I think my new Male VT Betta Chester is an Orange Dalmation...What do you think? (The pictures make him look reddish pink, but Chester is a very pretty light orange color with spots on his fins)
