Raphael's five gallon tank

Well, I was able to get some decent pictures of the five gallon betta tank today and thought I would post them up here. The castle is new, but I checked it over carefully for any sharp points or snags before I put it in the tank.
Oh, and don't worry about the lack of a heater. My room stays at a steady, comfy 78F.

Nice tank! Pretty boy you have! I LOVE castle decorations xD How do you like sand? I've been thinking about using it in my sorority, but I've heard mixed feelings.

Personally, I love the sand. The cleaning should be done a bit more carefully than gravel, otherwise you'll end up stirring it all up, but I think it's worth it. I doubt I'll ever use gravel again.

i have sand in all of my tanks, and my sorority tank also has about 1/3 river rocks. i find the sand much nicer to look at as well as once its clean you can SEE its clean. and if you malaysian trumpet snails in it, they will help in keeping it aerated. ive heard and read it can also be healthier because the gravel can hold so much bacterias.

all of mine are doing very well with sand. all i can suggest though as far as using it is rinse it, rinse it, rinse it and when you think its clear, rinse it some more. youll have much cleaner and clearer water then.

Yes, that one is real. I wanted a real plant, but our local store didn't carry many. This one was the only one they had and it was labeled as an Amazon Sword. I figured that since there wasn't anything else to choose from I might as well try it. If it grows too big I can always move it to my 29 gallon later.
