2nd attempt cycling thread.

So I started over with my cycling process. Making this my 2nd attempt. I Rinsed everything good and this time, with more knowledge and patience, hopefully I can get it right. I am going to post my first water test later tonight after adding ammonia dose # 1.

Wish me luck everyone! :)

Uh oh, nobody said good luck. I think I am doomed again...

Here are the first test results. 20 minutes after adding 3 drops of ammonia. I think that it is looking a lot better than before. I will test again before I go to bed tonight.

Does anyone know if it would be okay to keep the water in the test tubes for comparing results of future water tests?

oh no "GOOD LUCK!"

Hehe I'm sure everything will go...swimmingly. XD I have tried to keep the colored water for a day and they get darker over time. so I am guessing no. If that is what you mean right?

Yeah. No worries. I'll just do some daily tests to check ammonia levels to see if they are fluctuating at all.

What you can do is write down the levels on paper and keep track that way. ^u^

Start you a log you need to write it all down?
Date
Time
Temperature
pH
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
Notes

I'll make a chemist out you one way or the other!
Everything I do in the lab has to be veritable and reproducible by a independent 3rd party so your notes are the cornerstone of any research you do

What would happen if I had water evaporation and needed to add more water? Am I supposed to treat this water with conditioner before I added it so that the chlorine and chloramine doesn't upset the balance? Input appreciated thanks.
