Question For those with divided tanks...

How long did it take for your guys to stop flaring at each other?? Captain and Neptune have been together for in the divided ten gallon for two days now and still have not stopped flaring.

I'd give it a week. I had three males in a 10 gallon and they didn't pay much attention to each other after a week or so. Unless they are really stressed, it is fine for them to flare.

Thanks for the help that makes me feel better :) The funny thing is they both have HUGE bubble nests! and neither one has ever made one before, so I guess they like being next to each other?

Mine don't really flare at each other unless they're both right at the divider and happen to notice each other. But one of my is older so he's not really worried with flaring lol

In all my divided tank I have a male and a female so it isn't a problem. I had 2 males once and they got used to eachother within the day, but one was pretty old and didn't care too much about flaring. On the other hand, I tried to put Professor Lupin who is a tail biter in with another male thinking that it may distract him from his biting, and within an hour he had shredded his fins and I had to remove him as soon as I noticed. So I guess it depends, but with "normal" fish I'd give it 4 days to a week unless they're really looking stressed about it.

I think my boys flared for a week. Triton still does sometimes, but Poseidon never cared lol.

i have a 30 gallon divided for 3 crowntails. plexiglass in between, so they always fully see each other. they still flare at each other, but, they also have alotta room to swim away and get distracted. noone seems stressed about it. i also have veiltails in a row. they all always see each other. if i move one to another spot he almost always gets depressed and wont swim around, he just lays on the bottom. if i put him back, he perks right up. so i think mine, like to flare actually.
