Unhappy R.I.P Neptune :(

Found Neptune dead in his tank this evening with a bloated stomach. We sort of had an inkling to what would eventually be, cos he could just not hold himself at the top and kept getting into a vertical position. We thought it could be SBD and tried to feed him a pea, but he would have none of it.

Neptune was our first and best pet. He was great friends with my wife and daughter and would always come swimming right up, whenever he saw them. Seeing him lifeless at the bottom of the tank was too much for my 5 yr old :(
She sort of cried herself to sleep today saying, 'Why does everyone have 2 fishes and I have only one?'

R.I.P my little buddy. You gave us great joy in the short time you were with us and we hope we made your life comfortable too. If you ever wish to come back in some other form, you know our door are always open for you. Adios!

Thanks to Elmofish, Elena, AngelicScars, JamieTron and dr2b for all the well meaning advice. You guys are great!

Oh, no!! I'm so sorry about Neptune!! I'm so sorry for your little girl. She must be feeling so sad right now! Neptune was so lucky to have had such a wonderful home and to be loved so much by his family. RIP Neptune.

I'm sorry about your little guy. I think it would break my heart if I saw one of my kids upset about the loss of a pet. I think that would be harder then actually losing the pet. I hope she can move only quickly.

I am so sorry! It's heartbreaking to lose a pet, and even more so when a child goes through that. I have a four year old daughter who is very attached to her fish so I completely understand what she is going through. When that happened to us I told my daughter that her fish went to a big big ocean full of fish where all fish swim happily forever. That seemed to help her deal with it a little bit better. Hope your daughter gets over this quickly. My daugter sends her hugs :)
