I lose my power MAYBE once a year and it only lasts for like two hours. And it's always because someone runs into a pole.So I think I'll be good. It's warm here. :)

Well I've been hearing this winter is supposed to be pretty harsh in my area (WV/VA near DC). So I'm not really sure what to expect...I never thought of what your post was about though. Now I am trying to decide what I need to do.

Do you just buy those in any store like Target or Walmart? I have my otos too though, so I'd need to think about them too. I suppose I could put them in baggies and put them in the tank if I had to also.

I bought mine from Marinedepot. They were like .99 cents apiece so I bought 20.I have several coolers so I thought I'd put the fish in their little containers, put the containers in coolers and put 2 heat packs in each cooler and keep the lid closed. I would check on them every so often and make sure they have plenty of air.

Cant you put the tank over the little vent over the floor?
Oh.. I just remembered it comes on at random times xD
Well, cant you just keep them at a safe but warm distance from the fireplace (if you have one) ?

We have a gas fireplace but it doesn't put out much heat.

We have a gas fireplace in the living room. But I have 3 indoor cats. So the fish in cups on the mantle or hearth isn't safe. That's the main reason my fish are in my room.

Hmm, I think we have a gas too.
But, since I have no knowledge of eletronics outside of computers, will it go out too?
