Help????????

I was at petco yesterday and was looking at bettas just to see what they had i wasent planing on buting one but i saw this guy i dont know what he is i have him in a small vase because i forgot to buy a tank for him so im getting one tomarrow for him i want to know what kind it is and what kind of female i should breed him with and what color female i should breed him with and does anyone know where to get a good priced halfmoon male? here he is

You're completely knowledgeable about just what you're getting into by breeding them, right?

Since he's a dt I would stick with a hm or hmpk (if you are up for a bit extra work and like short fins). Do not breed him to another DT.

Whoooa slow down. You've still got this guy in a vase -- you don't even have a tank cycled for him yet -- hold off on the breeding!

There are a lot of things you need to consider before you even think about breeding. You need to be ready to properly condition your breeding pair and separate them once they're finished -- male and female bettas can't live together long term. You have to be prepared for the possibility of hundreds of fry in a single spawn. Do you know how to and what to feed them? Are you ready for the constant tank cleaning, feeding, and water changes fry require? Do you have suitable tanks to separate the fry to once they get bigger and start showing aggression? Do you have a plan for what you're going to do with all these babies?

What are your goals with breeding in the first place?
