Betta Won't Eat

I have a new Betta that I just brought home last night. I added dechlorinator to the water along with a bacterial supplement. Unfortunately, he won't eat. He does see the food, sometimes swims toward it, but doesn't try to eat it. I was told by the store that this can happen due to stress for a couple days, I just wanted to get some more opinions from people that I'm sure are more familiar than the store clerks with Betta behavior.

Also, if this goes on for more than 2 days, what can I do for him?

Thank you

Yes, to my knowledge some will not eat right away and I wouldn't be concerned yet. I had a problem with mine (had a few months) when he stopped eating. I put him on omega flakes than decided he needed to get back on good quality pellets. A few days he went without eating, a few days I sunk the pellets (he would chase them than eat them) and finally he eats by himself. Long story short give him a bit (just my opinion)

It may go on for up to a week - he jus wants time to adjust. :) To help him adjust more quickly:
- keep the tank dark for a day or so;
- make sure the temperature is a nice toasty 78-82F;
- make sure that the food you are using is high quality, such as New Life Spectrum, Aqueon or Omega One.

When we brought our little guy home all he would eat was a freez dried blood worm every two days. I had to trick him an put a omega one pellet with the blood worm. Another opinion is soak the food in garlic enhancement

My betta didn't eat for the first week or so. I was using Omega One pellets at the time and after about 2 weeks he seemed to lighten up a bit and go for the pellets a little bit more. I have since switched to Atison's betta pellets and now he practically begs me for food when he sees me around. Just keep your betta in a good conditions tank wise to keep him happy and attempt to feed him every day or 2 eventually he should come around.
