EEK! Fungus?!?!

I was just now looking in on my dear fishy and I noticed this whitish fuzzy stuff growing on his dorsal fin. NOT GOOD! What do I do? What sort of remedies should I get, how do I do it, and do I need to put him in a smaller "quarantine" bowl versus his five gallon aquarium or...??

Fortunately I think I've caught it early. He's still as active as ever and he ate just fine when I fed him earlier...

It's probably bacterial. True fungus in aquaria is rare.

Keep him in the tank. There's no need for quarantine if he has no tankmates.

What are your water stats?

Can you get a picture?

Is it spreading and if so how fast?

To start, give him a water change and add some aquarium salt.

I would recommend Jungle Fungus Eliminator or Jungle Fungus Clear.

Jungle Fungus Clear worked well for me. 1 tsp per 5 gallons added to treated water. Remove the charcoal from the filter first tho.

After 4 days, 25% water change and then you can add another tsp.

This is assuming that you don't have any other fish that will be affected by treatment. Most are fine with the JFC. I have two cories in my betta tank and they werent bothered by it at all.

Good luck
