Fin/Tail Rot

My betta came down with a slight case of Tail Rot, it's hard to tell since his tail for the most part is white. I had some antibotics on hand (the name escapes me atm) and used that. He is doing better but what is the most or rather best brand name to use.

I in the past haven't has much luck with off brands :(

And also I know this is a Betta forum but one of my female swords came down with the Tail Rot as well. She came down with it due to stress. I thought she was about ready to give birth yesterday and placed her in a breeder (She was showing every sign possible) I awoke the next morning (about 6 hours later) and saw the white on her tail fin with a bit of the tail missing.

What ever treatment (with exception to the salt) I end up buying would it be able to be used on both breeds of fish.

In my main tank I also have 2 Killifish, 8 Swords, Glass Catfish, and an angelfish. (Betta isn't in this tank)
