help with my little guy!

Im a new betta owner (yay!) and have a question. So my little guy Briarios started life in a pet store cup. I then transfurred him to a brandy glass because I thought they like small places. When I discovered that wasnt the case I put him in a 1/2 gal bowl. His water needed changing frequently and he would sit on the bottom, which I read to be a sign of cold temp. Two days ago I got a one gallon tank with filter/bubbler, gravel, a plant, cover, feeding slot, and light. He seemed very weirded out at first but seems to be used to it as of this morning.

My two questions are that he has never had a light before so should turn it off at night or leave it on 24/7. And that the bubbler seems to be scary to him so when I fed him yesterday he didn't eat, possibly because the bubbler was making it float all around. what should I do to make sure my little friend lives a long happy life? They don't need the light 24/7. I would run it about 8-12 hours during the day and turn it off at night.
As far as the bubbler, if he doesn't like it, then just remove it. It isn't necessary and some don't care for them and some don't mind it.

Also it's only a one gallon tank. Should I still buy a mini heater?

It really depends on what the temperature is where you live. It's warm where I live and Bernard's tank is always at 75 degrees in my one gallon. The lamp will keep the water warm as well. What temperature is the water at during the day, at night, and when the lights on?

Im not sure. I dont have a term. or know really what king to get. I hear the stick on ones arn't accurate and I dont want to hurt him with a glass one....

I don't know what you mean by it hurting him. Bernard hasn't been harmed by it.

get a thermometer so you can make sure his water temp at least stays between 75-80

I would definitely keep an eye out with a mini heater in a 1 gallon.
