My two DT's still have fin rot. Picasso is starting to get better but Phantoms tail is basically all gone. Maybe he's a tail bitter, but I've never seen him bite it. I'll take a picture of him soon. Maybe my water is too harsh for them? I use water conditioner. I know some people can't have CT's b/c their waters too harsh. I don't have any test kits or anything like that and I really can't spend anymore money on medication. I've tried JFC, Bettafix, and Melacyn recently and nothing is working. I hate keeping them in the medication all the time. I don't know what to do. All of my other fish are healthy *knocks on wood*. I've been thinking about putting him in his own tank because maybe he's stressed being next to Picasso? They don't flare at eachother anymore so I don't really think that's it...I'm just so frustrated. Sorry, I had to vent a little.

Thanks Kim! No I don't do salt baths, I was thinking about trying that as my last hope.

Salt baths can't hurt. And maybe you should divide them in a way where they can't see each other at all?

I've been battling fin issues with one of my guys for a couple of months now. It's really tough, and nothing seems to be helping really.
I just stick with salt baths, medicating, and giving him a break between meds to keep from stressing him too much. I think aquarium salt is great.

Ok, I'll give salt a try. It is very difficult and I feel horrible because half of his tail is gone, but he's as happy as can be so it's not bothering him and he can still swim around fine. Yeah, in between using new medications I usually give them a couple days break. Thanks guys!

I had one that completely lost his dorsal fin. He had a red sore on his back and he kept rubbing his back against the glass so I put him in some Betta Fix. It healed and he was fine after that but his dorsal fin was completely gone and never grew back but it didn't bother him.

I saw something called pimafix and melafix on Dr Foster Smith dot com. They're supposed to help with that. I ordered some cause Tangos tail has a tear in it and we use tea tree oil here at home for all kinds of things and it's very helpful. There were a lot of good reviews for it. It doesn't affect ph or mess up plants. I'll let you know if it helps?
