You can use Epsom salt if he has bloat as it has laxative properties.

Use kosher salt as it is the exact same thing as "aquarium salt"

Don't use table salt since it usually has iodine added.

Oh ok that's where I've heard the Epsom salt thing. Thank you for the responses! He's much better with no meds in his water. His stripes are almost gone and he's much more active, swimming around and being like he used to act. So that's good. I'll just have to change his water diligently because I hate seeing his fins all ratted up
