I've noticed a few people have had the same problem I have with their filter being too strong. The filter in Hector's 5g was still too strong after making a baffle for it, so I came up with a modification to the baffle to help some of the people who's filters are still too strong. Make a baffle the usual way but use something clean and sharp to put holes into your baffle, not too small and not too big. The holes will allow the water to flow through at a slower rate and the excess is directed out the sides so that the water coming from the sides of the baffle is not dumping too fast.
It really depends on the strength of your filter to begin with, but this is what worked for me and maybe it will also help someone else.
