Question, please help!

So, my filter decided to die on me. I'm not sure when i'll be able to get a new one, but hopefully soon.
My question is this:
Do i need a filter to keep my heater going? should i just place the heater in the middle of the tank? I need the heat, as i'm trying to get his fins to grow back after a case of fin rot.
Please and thank you! 8)

I use heaters without filters and have had no problem.

Same here!
The heat has always distributed evenly for me despite the lack of a filter.

I've had the heater on for a while now, and the heat has distributed evenly for me too, which puts my mind at ease. No more cold water for frank!
Thanks guys :'D

just replace the filter whenever you can, you dont have to have one, but, it definately helps with keeping the water cleaner especially when theres a finrot issue

If your tank is no more than 15g and you simply keep bettas, sponge filters should be sufficient enough.

Is the tank cycled? If it was, then you may have water quality issues now that your filter has died..just something to watch out for if the tank was cycled.
