Ahh! Heater malfunction!

I came home from class today and went in my room to see my fish, and I checked the temperature of my new CT's tank and it was WAY too warm, I think his heater busted! I took it out right away and I gradually began adding cool water, but I'm really worried about him..Has this happened to anyone else? He seems ok for the moment..

Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure since I was freaking out and trying to get cooler water for him all before my sister came home because she had to take me to the store :(

Hmm I've been watching him, and he seems like he's going to be alright. He's swimming normally..I hope he'll be ok overnight.

You have no idea what the temperature was? Not even a general idea? If it was 82-84 I think you should be fine - because it isn't like the tank is always at that temp.

As long as it didn't get over 85, he should be alright. Even better if it didn't stay so hot for long.

I had my tank shoot up to 86 degrees when my AC broke during the Summer. The boy in that tank was just fine, but maybe a bit upset for a couple of days; though I think that was due to my constantly having to add cooler water.

I'd test out the heater in an empty bucket just to check.
