Cycling question.

I currently have 1 Betta and 4 ghost shrimp in a 5gal tank doing 50% water changes twice weekly. Will my tank still cycle and just take longer, or will the water changes completely halt the cycling process?

Are you checking your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels?

I still have to pick up a test kit today. Hopefully it will still cycle because I'd really like to add some Zebra Danios, or Corys.

I would recommend an API freshwater master test kit. The strips aren't accurate.

Yeah. They are more expensive, but worth it.

You won't be able to add zebra fish or cories to your 5 gal, though. They need to be in schools and your tank would be very overstocked.

I was thinking of giving the shrimp to a friend so I could add 3 Danios or Corys. Or would that still be over stocked?
