ghost shrimp dead?

I bought 3 yesterday, and they were doing fine.

I wake up to find 2 of them dead.

do slight temperature changes cause this? I don't think my fish attacked them, he didn't before.

Any ideas?

well, the other one is dead.
I got off to class, find him stuck on the filter tube. I turn it off and he just floats to the bottom... :-\

The tank isn't dirty or anything - I've had it for 5 days... lol

The other one just molted too, oh well.

I'll get some more next shipment, and see what happens.

Ghost shrimp are really sensitive to changing water conditions, including temperature, so that might be your culprit. He might have died before he got caught on the tube and then been pulled up? I watched mine carefully around my intake and they've swam all around it and not been pulled in, I have it at about 1/2 power.

Everything I've read about ghost shrimp suggests that they really do best in a fully established/cycled tank. Since you said that your tank is only five days old, it could be that the water stats just weren't stable enough for them yet.

thanks all.

the new shipment won't come in until Wednesday, so by then my tank should (hopefully) be fully cycled. then we can see what happens.

Unless you're using something from a previously cycled tank to help cycle this one, it'll take about a month for your tank to finish cycling.

ah, I did not know that.
I'll wait for a while then, haha.

I did get a snail though (gold mystery) - we'll see how he holds up.
