i wouldnt try putting the 2 males together on purpose. If you do that, be prepared to see them nip abd hurt each other. Im guessing thats not what you really want to see. And i would imagine in such a small home, they will be even more territorial. Try to get a bigger divided tank and just ENJOY them hun. good luck!

I don't really think this experiment is a good idea. Males can be extremely aggressive towards other males. Even if you prevent them from seriously hurting each other, I'll bet they would both be very stressed by having a rival in such a small space.

I like Christina's suggestion. Get a bigger tank to divide (maybe 5 or 10 gallons) and spoil them with love.

I would say no to 2 males in just a couple of gallons, if you have like 600 gallons I know they would live together, because in the wild they don't fight to the death, they fight until one gets injured, and run away. so with enough space I bet you would couldhouse them together

Ya, i was dreaming about later in life having a 100-150 maybe 200 or so gallon tank and having a few males in there with a few females maybe... i donno... see what they would be like in the wild? hahah heavily planted of course, lots of hidey holes and some other community fish.... i donno its a dream, i guess kinda of an experiment too...

If you do ever decide to try this...just remember a large tank! annnnd the welfare of the fish. Maybe if you could mimic nature that would be pretty neat, but you can't monitor them 24/7 which could be a problem. So you would have to plan it out pretty good before you did something like this.
