Until today, I owned 2 betta fish, both kept in heated tanks. I went to the petstore today because I was running low on food, and while I was there I spotted the smallest, saddest looking betta I had ever seen. While most are priced anywhere from 10-20 dollars, this little guy was 2.50 because he wouldn't sell. He was being kept in a tiny little cup as well. I felt bad for him, so I brought him home.
However! The only place where I have room for him right now is in my 5gal tank with two dwarf frogs. I am getting to my real question...
This tank is unheated, but it does have a lamp over it which I turn off at night. I know the lamp changes the temperature of the water, which the frogs don't mind, but I feel like that could be bad news for a betta.
I will get a heater for this tank soon, but in the meantime would it be best to keep the lamp on all the time?
