I think my bettas ate all my ghost shrimp?!

I got four ghost shrimp last night. Two for each betta.

Basically, one of them was huge, about as large as my bettas and I know I saw him before coming to work. However, I found one this morning that wasn't moving at all, so I took him out right away. Later, I found another one that wasn't moving and turning pink, but when I went back to get him, he was gone.

Both of my bettas' bellies are looking pretty big... like they may have eaten a shrimp, and they are moving a bit letharically. Should I not feed them for a couple days? Should I remove the gigantic shrimp and put him in a separate aquarium? Please tell me they're not going to die!

I would assume that if some of your shrimp are gone, that your bettas decided to have themselves a shrimp buffet. I would imagine that they are pretty full right now and don't want to move around much. I would keep an eye on them and not feed them for a few days.

Oops! I guess they decided to help themselves to the shrimp ring... if the ghost shrimp is pink or opaque it probably won't survive.

I wouldn't feed them for a couple of days, your bettas seemed to have a feast. :P

Hope they didn't forget the shrimp sauce. ;) LOL Yeah, just keep an eye on them.

We had a member this past year whose tire track eel ate 9 neon tetras.

Okay, so update: The bettas didn't eat ANY of the shrimp! I guess I freaked out. The two shrimp I put on the side of the tank with Atlantis both died, but did not appear to be eaten. On the other side of the tank, with Titan, I still have the monster shrimp that is almost the same size as Titan and a smaller shrimp. Those guys all seem to be living in harmony.

Whew. Titan is still acting weird though...
