Bernard's not looking so hot

The past two days Bernard has been acting very sluggish. Usually he's very active and curious but this has now become his regular position.



There have been no changes in his diet and the water parameters are as follows
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
PH: 7.8
He only moves around when he has to breathe. There are no visible marks on his body and no bulges or bloating. His gills move very slowly. His water temp gets pretty low at night but this has never been a problem before and the weather here is always the same. His water right now is at 72 and it doesn't change much from there. I have no idea how old he is but three days ago he was working on bubblenests nonstop so he's not THAT old. I'm really starting to worry. He's never acted like this before. I tried a salt bath earlier today to see if that might help but he's not responding to it. All I have is aquarium salt and bettafix at the moment. Any ideas as to what it might be??

Oh and I do water changes every other day.

I would try warming up his tank even though it's never been a problem. I hope he gets better!

Any suggestions for a 1 gal? I've only ever seen those Hydor minis but they're for 2 gals.

I have a tetra whisper in a gallon and a half and it warms the water to 76-77 degrees.

Uggg I can't get a new heater in the tank until Sunday night. I have an idea. Can I fill an empty water bottle with warm water and float it in the tank? Kind of a manual heater.

On my Dream Tank post I said that he was in a heated ten gallon. Well, he's still sick. Even with a salt bath and a dose of bettafix. In fact, he looks even worse. Right now I'm with my family on a little getaway and I don't think he'll still be with us when I get back on Tuesday night. I'm so sad. I feel like I've failed him. I'm just glad that I could give him a comfortable home. I love you, Bernard!

I know how you feel! I had to leave Oscar when he was sick.You have NOT failed him!! He has a good home with good care and he is loved very much!!

I feel like crying. He's my very first betta. At least now he'll be nice and warm until he passes. I'm so upset. I feel silly actually. I got to put the sand in before I left. I'll put a pic in my Dream Tank thread.
