Red face Snails in a tank?

I'm thinking about getting snails for my new betta tank. 1 1/2 gallon tank.
-What do they eat?
-Will they hurt my betta?
-How many should I get per tank?

they will not hurt a betta, but your betta may attack a snail, depends on the bettas temperment
i feed my snails algae wafers, but i would strongly recommend you dont add any to a 1.5 gallon tank with a betta, thats really overstocked

Yeah snails are poop machines. A 1.5 is sufficient for a betta, and that's it.

My teacher is giving me some of his. They are very tiny. It'll be only one a tank.

He is giving you physa (pond snails). Never put two in a tank because they will multiply. These are the snails people talk about when they get 'overrun'.

Snails are very messy though. I wouldn't put them in that tank. 1.5 is still pretty small, even for a betta. With a snail you'd be cleaning it 24/7.

Okay so I'm kinda wishing I hadn't gotten them. In one day they made the tank GROSS

I like ocean snails! But these are pond snails which apparently breed like crazy

Yeah, I asked a friend at petco and they said they are a nuisance and have hopped from tank to tank.
